[Book Review] Leadership 2.0 by Travis Bradberry, Jean Greaves

Book Review:
     I picked up this book since I want to learn more about leadership. I am at the point where I would have someone working for me soon. I want to know what ticks people and, perhaps more importantly, what encourages them to work for others rather than pursuing their own interest.
     Well, I find this book interesting. Also, most contents here are common knowledge, the author systematically reorganize the knowledge into easily digestible categories. The author starts with 360 degree refined assessment—A common test you ask most people around you to assess you. When you know the skills you lack, you can work on it. The author includes anonymous quotes from people around the test subject to complement his explanation of each leadership skills. This is nice and makes it easier to digest the content.
     The audiobook is narrated by Tom Parks. His voice is clear and easy to listen to. Overall, I like this book. I recommend this book for those who need to work on their leadership skills.


     There are two kinds of leadership: Core leadership and adaptive leadership. Core leadership consists of basic skills every leader should have. These skills are categorized into strategy skills, action skills, and result skills. Adaptive leadership makes great leaders be above good leaders. It consists of emotional intelligence (the ability to understand others), organizational justice (being fair), character, and development.

Book or Audiobooks?

          Personally, I prefer audiobooks. It's fun, and I can listen when I'm doing something else. It also makes other activities (e.g., jogging) a lot more fun. For more detail about audiobooks, please read [this post].

Even if you get the book and cancel the subscription right away (so that you don't have to pay), you can keep the book. And, don't worry if you lost the audiobook file.     About the summary: It takes time to finish up a book. And, when you do, sometimes, you want to review what you learn from the book. If you do not make  notes as you read, you might have to go through the book once again. This can be time-consuming when you are dealing with a book. But you can still flip through the book and locate what you are looking for.

However, when the material is an audiobook, it is extremely hard to locate a specific part of content. Most likely you will have to listen to the entire audiobook once again.

This book summary will help solve the pain of having to go through the book all over again.
